Ranking potential head coach candidates for the Cleveland Browns

T-6. 49ers defensive coordinator Robert Saleh
The San Francsico 49ers have been one of the biggest surprises of the 2019 season, as they have emerged as a top contender in the NFC. They are strong in all phases and can either outscore opponents or shut down opposing offenses with their defense.
San Francisco’s defense has been a top-notch unit in 2019, led by defensive coordinator Robert Saleh. Saleh is an energetic coach who has put his players in positions to make plays. His scheme makes it difficult for offenses to gain a rhythm and he knows what to do with the talent given to him. Despite having a young defense, Saleh has quickly turned the young talent into a dominating unit.
The 49ers have the second-best total defense in the NFL, allowing only 277.4 yards per game. San Francisco also has the best pass defense in the NFL. They have allowed 19.3 points per game, eighth-best in the league. San Francisco also has the fifth-most sacks and have 27 turnovers created.
Saleh comes from the Pete Carroll and Seattle coaching tree. He is also learning from another young mind in Kyle Shanahan, who has quickly learned the ropes of being a head coach and getting the best out of his team.
However, like Stefanski, Saleh would also be another first-time head coach. If the Browns were willing to take a chance on first-time head coach again, Saleh seems like he is well-prepared to do so because players have bought into what Saleh preaches. It will be a question of if the Browns want a rookie head coach for another season.
