Cleveland Browns instant reactions: Team doesn’t show up for Freddie Kitchens
By Dan Justik
The Cleveland Browns ended the 2019 season in fitting fashion with a disappointing loss to Cincinnati. Here are the instant reactions from the season finale.
After being officially eliminated from the playoffs, the Cleveland Browns entered Week 17 with nothing to play for against the league worst Cincinnati Bengals. And it showed as it was a sloppy back and forth game on both sides.
The Bengals came away with only their second victory of the season, defeating the Browns 33-23, as the Browns finish 2019 with a 6-10 record. For several Browns, it looked like they were welcoming the end of the season even before the opening kickoff.
Despite the offense taking shots downfield and making some big plays, it was clear the offense was running at half speed. They showed several of the same issues that they have all season, whether it be offensive line problems, not running the football, or Baker Mayfield forcing the football.
The defensive side of the football was not much better, as the Bengals seemingly got whatever they wanted. Joe Mixon ran all over the Browns, rushing for 162 yards and two touchdowns on 26 carries. Andy Dalton was also able to pick apart Cleveland’s secondary and moved the Cincinnati offense down the field.
After what was a horribly disappointing season for the Browns, Sunday’s game was exactly how the season should have ended. Even though the Browns are the more talented team, poor coaching and lack of accountability from the players caused the Browns to lose another game.
