The Cleveland Browns are casting a wide-net for their head coaching search, and they are taking a look at a variety of candidates.

The Cleveland Browns were clearly a mess during the 2019 season and the chaos behind the scenes ultimately affected the team’s performance on the field. With all of the problems the Browns had, their decisions to fire Freddie Kitchens and part ways with John Dorsey made sense.

However, now the Browns are once again conducting a head coaching search with a front office in limbo. Without a general manager, Jimmy and Dee Haslam are leading the head coaching search with Paul DePodesta running the process.

Currently Cleveland’s Chief Strategy Officer, DePodesta appears to be in position to have a larger voice in the front office. However, DePodesta will not be the head of football operations despite wanting to have a larger say in the front office.

Whoever the Browns hire as head coach will have a large say in who becomes the team’s next general manager. Cleveland wants a cleaner process in the front office where it is a collaborative effort. Having the head coach and general manager working together creates a partnership that will have a more clear vision instead of disagreements across the entire organization.

Cleveland’s ownership wants to avoid an arranged marriage, which has led to the dysfunction the Browns have endured in the past. Allowing the head coach to bring in his own guy to run the football operations will create a much better process for Cleveland.

As the Browns cast a wide net to find their next head coach, here is a look at all of the candidates the Browns have requested interviews with or candidates the Browns reportedly have interest in.
