49ers passing-game coordinator Mike LaFleur

Similar to Mike McDaniel, the Cleveland Browns are reportedly interested in Mike LaFleur. However, there has been no request to interview LaFleur and it is unknown if he will ultimately get an interview with the Browns.

LaFleur is the younger brother of Green Bay Packers head coach Matt LaFleur. The younger LaFleur has been on Kyle Shanahan’s coaching staff for the past six seasons, including being an offensive intern with the Browns in 2014.

The 33-year-old was San Francisco’s wide receivers coach in 2017 and 2018, as well as the passing game coordinator. He now serves as just the passing game coordinator. In 2019, San Francisco finished as the 13th-best passing offense, averaging 237.0 passing yards per game. San Francisco had the second-most passing yards per attempt.

Prior to joining Kyle Shanahan’s coaching staff in 2014, LaFleur was a quarterbacks coach for one season at Saint Joseph’s College, a Division II college. He was then the schools offensive coordinator for two seasons. LaFleur was also the offensive coordinator for one season at Davidson College, a FCS school.

Like McDaniel, the Browns would likely try to pick LaFleur’s mind about coaching an offense. Despite the Browns reportedly being interested in interviewing both McDaniel and LaFleur for the head coaching vacancy, they would more likely be candidates to potentially be the team’s offensive coordinator.
