Cleveland Browns News: Could Eli Manning join the Browns?
By Randy Gurzi
The Daily Dawg Tags bring you all the Cleveland Browns news you need to know, including a crazy story about Eli Manning joining the team to play quarterback
The stories coming out of Berea are often too crazy to be true — but yet somehow always seem to be. But even for the Cleveland Browns, the most unpredictable team in the league, this idea seems too far fetched.
An idea was floated on Twitter lately by former Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant that actually started to grow legs. Bryant said that the team should be interested in bringing in one of his former rivals in the NFC East, Eli Manning.
Sure, Eli has two Super Bowl rings under his belt, but the Browns have their starting quarterback in Baker Mayfield. Still, Dez sees this as a win for Cleveland, but he might be alone in that thought.

Cleveland Browns News
"“This what Cleveland Brown fans should be dreaming row right now.. get Eli Manning ..some how some way get 49ers D coordinator..run similar style offense like the 49ers… Cleveland have crazy talent everywhere offense and defense…maximize it while you can I’m taking all bets,” Bryant tweeted."
Dez started to defend his stance on Twitter saying that the Browns could run a quick-passing offense mire efficiently with a veteran quarterback. He also said he likes Mayfield but thought he could benefit from learning from Manning. There’s a small chance that could have worked in Mayfield’s rookie season, but not now.
"“Roman, who called the plays for one of the most prolific offenses in NFL history this season, is the second candidate to interview. Former Green Bay Packers head coach Mike McCarthy interviewed earlier in the day Thursday at the team’s headquarters in Berea.”"
The real story here isn’t the Roman interview but the fact that Jimmy Haslam put an interview with Mike McCarthy on hold to go to his press conference. Yes, that really happened.
Browns should consider keeping defensive coordinator Steve Wilks
Steve Wilks had a lot to overcome on the defensive side of the ball in 2019, which leads Justice Sunderland to ask whether or not he should be given a second season. This will be met with frustration but it really only matters if the coach they sign wants him around.
Grading John Dorsey’s tenure with the Browns
Not everything John Dorsey did for the Browns was great but it also wasn’t terrible. Like most GMs, he had his share of hits and misses and Frank Teriaca grades him for the work he did in his two-plus seasons with Cleveland.
