The Cleveland Browns are the final team with a head coaching vacancy during this offseason cycle. As four other teams have already filled their positions, the Browns continue to take their time and follow through with their process.

The organization not rushing into a decision is exactly what owner Jimmy Haslam said he wanted to happen. He wanted to have a wide-ranging search that would help the team find the right head coach that fit what the team was doing so the organization could alignment.

Alignment was a popular word for Haslam during his end of season press conference. After several searches for a head coach and front office executives, Haslam seems to have finally learned what he needs to be doing in these searches.

Even though they are the final team without a head coach, the Browns still have all of their top candidates available. This is the perfect time for the organization to go through all of the details and find the man they want to lead the franchise. Giving that coach the autonomy to build the football operations will show they are committed to the coach and that they have learned from their mistakes.

Will Josh McDaniels leave the Browns at the altar?

Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels has received plenty of criticism because of how he spurned the Indianapolis Colts at the last second during the 2018 offseason. Frank Teriaca wonders if McDaniels will do the same with the Browns, as McDaniels is supposedly Cleveland’s top target.

Jim Schwartz may have been a last second interview, but there is reason to believe he will be a serious candidate. His love for analytics and head coaching experience would be attractive for what the Browns are looking for. It would be a matter of how impressive he was during the interview.
