Cleveland Browns wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. became a focus of attention at the National Championship, and his actions could have legal ramifications.

Cleveland Browns wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. was in New Orleans celebrating the LSU Tigers’ National Championship on Monday night. However, his celebrations has caused issues for both LSU and the New Orleans Police Department.

On Thursday, the New Orleans Police Department obtained a warrant for Beckham’s arrest, according to WDSU News in New Orleans. The warrant is for simple battery after Beckham was seen on video touching the backside of a police officer in the LSU locker room following the game.

The video was posted and shared on social media on Tuesday. The video shows the officer confronting Beckham immediately after Beckham touched him. However, the video was stopped shortly after the officer started talking to Beckham.

Before the celebration moved into the locker room, Beckham also had questionable actions on the field immediately after the game. Beckham is shown on video handing out cash to multiple LSU players, which would be a NCAA violation for the players receiving the cash and for the university.

The university initially claimed that Beckham was handing out fake money. However, LSU quarterback Joe Burrow later confirmed that Beckham was handing out real cash. The university is investigating the incident.

Although it is only a couple of weeks into the offseason for the Browns, this is not the news the organization wanted to see. The warrant may prove to only be a small issue that will not affect Beckham long-term, but any legal issues will be concerning for the organization.

The Browns are entering a critical offseason and there is already a lot of negativity surrounding the organization after failing to meet expectations in 2019 and replacing both their general manager and head coach. Beckham’s actions in New Orleans will be just another issue the organization will have to deal with this offseason.

Beckham’s future with the Browns should not be in any jeopardy because of what happened Monday night. However, with a team and organization needing a culture change, these are not the type of stories the team will want to handle during the offseason, especially for a superstar like Beckham, whose actions on and off the field are always scrutinized.
