Former Cleveland Browns offensive coordinator Todd Monken has reportedly taken a position on the coaching staff at the University of Georgia.

Todd Monken’s career in Cleveland was short lived and was doomed to fail from the beginning. The intelligent offensive mind came to Cleveland for one season, Freddie Kitchens’ only season as head coach.

Monken was known for his Air Raid offense that he preferred to ran, and it would’ve been very interesting to see him call plays for the Browns with the extremely talented wide receiver room the Browns had at the beginning of 2019. However, Freddie Kitchens called the offensive plays over Monken’s entire tenure, so Cleveland fans never got to see what Monken could really bring to the table.

Todd Monken was a good coach stuck in a bad situation, and will be in a much more beneficial situation for himself next season, as it is being reported that he will be taking the job at Georgia to be on their staff as the offensive coordinator.

With Georgia head coach Kirby Smart never having coached an offensive position before, it is pretty safe to say that Todd Monken will be calling plays for the Georgia Bulldogs. This should be great news for the Georgia wide receiver room, and grad transfer quarterback Jamie Newman. It will be interesting to see how Georgia’s long line of elite running backs continues underneath Todd Monken’s offense. Todd Monken hasn’t been known to call plays for elite running backs, as he never had one in Tampa.

Todd Monken’s departure from the Browns should be for the best for both parties, as new head coach Kevin Stefanski will most likely call plays.

Next. Surprise prospect to keep an eye on. dark

Hopefully there is no bad blood between current Browns organization members and Monken, as his college program is full of NFL talent that could very much benefit the Cleveland Browns.
