As first reported by Ian Rapoport, the Cleveland Browns have hired long-time Patriots assistant coach Chad O’Shea to join Kevin Stefanski’s coaching staff.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported Sunday that the Cleveland Browns will be hiring former Dolphins offensive coordinator and former Patriots wide receivers coach Chad O’Shea as Cleveland’s wide receiver coach and pass game coordinator.

O’Shea did a good job in Miami last season considering that his roster had been stripped away for draft picks after the team traded away Laremy Tunsil and Kenny Stills Jr.

Miami had the league’s 27th-ranked offense in 2019, averaging 310.0 yards per game, and the 25th-ranked scoring offense, averaging 19.1 points per game. The Dolphins had the league’s 12th-ranked passing offense under O’Shea’s tutelage.

Before joining Brian Flores in Miami, Chad O’Shea coached in New England from 2009-2018, coaching the wide receivers and winning three Super Bowls in the time being.

Prior to New England he was an offensive assistant coach for the Minnesota Vikings with Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski from 2006-2008. Before that, he had stints as a coach with the Chiefs, Southern Mississippi, and Houston, his alma mater where he first started coaching.

O’Shea joins the Browns coaching staff in what will be a staff full of Vikings connections, since that was the only other place Coach Stefanski coached at before coming to Cleveland. O’Shea joins Mike Priefer as the 2nd coach to be added to Stefanski’s coaching staff in Cleveland. Priefer and O’Shea have not worked together yet in their NFL careers, despite both having connections to Minnesota.
