No. 2: Josh Gordon (2013)

Josh Gordon was an enigma. Nicknamed “Flash Gordon” or “flash” for short, he was the best wide receiver in the NFL in 2013. The craziest part of it all was that his quarterbacks were Brandon Weeden, Jason Campbell, and Brian Hoyer.

Despite not having an elite quarterback to throw it to him, he was a First-Team All-Pro wide receiver, ahead of Antonio Brown, AJ Green, and Demaryius Thomas.

In 2013, Josh Gordon caught 87 passes for a mind-boggling 1646 yards and 9 touchdowns, along with 5 rushes for 88 yards. Averaging 18.9 yards per catch at such a high volume of receptions is almost unheard of.

Since 2000, his 18.9 yards per catch in a single season ranked 7th among all NFL receivers with 50-plus catches. He ranks 2nd among receivers with 80+ catches.

Josh Gordon’s career with the Browns and overall his career in the NFL would go on to be plagued with suspensions for drug-related issues, which was incredibly unfortunate. Gordon’s addictions robbed him of a Hall of Fame NFL career.

Turning 29 this year, it is not too late for Josh Gordon to seek help and kick his addictions, but he may have used all his second chances up already in the NFL. Here’s to hoping he can find a way to stay back in the league for good and kick his addictions.
