No. 6: Joe Schobert (2019)
First things first, the Browns need to re-sign this man. Joe Schobert has been an absolute steal for the Browns, who drafted him in the 4th round. Getting the type of production he has produced for the team out of the 4th round is insane. He may have been the greatest value draft pick the Browns made in the 2010s.
Schobert has been an absolute force on the field since he started playing as a starter for the Cleveland Browns in 2017. He has started 49 of the past 52 games the Browns have played and has been the leader on the defense for almost all of those snaps.
You can pick any of his past three seasons and slap them on this list and I don’t think people would be upset. I originally went with his 2017 pro bowl season, but after evaluating his career, I felt like 2019 was a career year for Schobert.
In 2019 Schobert racked up 133 tackles, four interceptions, nine passes defended, two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, two sacks, seven tackles for loss, and four quarterback hits. His four interceptions led the Browns this past season, which is crazy to think about when you look at the talent in the defensive back room for the Browns.
The value Schobert provided to this Browns defense in 2019 was more than whatever he will make next season, and was surely more than he got paid this season. With the return of analytics to Cleveland, Joe Schobert should be safe to stay, considering he is an analytics hero.
