2020 NFL Draft: 5 Potential Cleveland Browns sleeper picks

As the 2020 season draws to a close, we focus on the possible mid-late round draft picks that could make an instant impact for the Cleveland Browns.

It’s that time of year again for Cleveland Browns fans, as we spend the playoff season assessing what a new coach and staff will do with five total draft picks in the first four rounds of the NFL Draft.

Along with their own picks, the Browns gained a third-round pick from the Houston Texans by trading away Duke Johnson.

While there will be plenty of focus and discussion on how the team and new coach Kevin Stefanski and his rebuilt and reorganized front office will do with the 10th overall pick, I want to look at the potential impact players the Browns may fancy in the mid to late rounds of the draft.

1. Ezra Cleveland, OT, Boise State

Ezra Cleveland is a big man at the left tackle spot. Measuring in at 6-6 and 310-pounds, the Boise State junior is surprisingly agile for his size. Cleveland, somewhat surprisingly, decided to forgo his senior year to enter the draft despite expectations of his earliest opportunity of coming off the board in the second round.

It’s honestly more likely for him to fall to the third or even fourth round depending on his performance at his pro-day and combine if given an invite. What excites me about the two times First Team All-Mountain West (2018-19) left tackle is his consistency and speed.

While better in pass blocking than the run, Cleveland shows a great ability to get to his second and third blocks. He also does a superior job of recognizing edge blitzes and identifying his assignments in a mismatch or overloaded situations. While there’s plenty of work to be done, Cleveland gives new o-line coach Bill Callahan a great canvas to work with.
