Bold prediction claims Cleveland Browns could trade Odell Beckham to Philadelphia
By Randy Gurzi
Maurice Moton of Bleacher Report selected the boldest roster moves NFL teams could make this offseason and had the Cleveland Browns trading OBJ to the Philadelphia Eagles
Back in December, Jay Glazer reported that Odell Beckham, Jr. was unhappy with the Cleveland Browns and wanted out of town. The player, and several of his teammates, have all disputed the report but once something hits the rumor mill, it’s hard to get the speculation to stop.
As for OBJ, there probably was some truth to him being frustrated. Head coach Freddie Kitchens struggled to put together a good game plan and the offense was beyond inconsistent. This had an effect on Beckham, who was often ignored on the field.
With Kitchens gone and Kevin Stefanski now the coach, it would be logical to think that Beckham and the rest of the offense could be a little more optimistic. However, that doesn’t mean the rumors of players wanting out will stop.

That’s been proven again as Beckham’s name was mentioned in a recent Bleacher Report article by Maurice Moton. While making predictions for the boldest offseason moves, Moton had the Browns sending OBJ to the receiver-needy Philadelphia Eagles for Alshon Jeffery and a couple of draft picks.
"“The Browns can send Beckham to the Philadelphia Eagles, who need speed at wide receiver. If possible, they should attempt to swap wideouts, taking Alshon Jeffery and a second- or third-round pick in case his play declines after he underwent Lisfranc surgery.” — Moton, Bleacher Report"
Moton did say there’s not much proof behind Glazer’s report, which is consistent with what Beckham and his teammates have said. However, he does say that the team is expected to be more run-driven with Stefanski calling plays.
That would be a good offensive strategy considering Nick Chubb is in their backfield — and he was second in the NFL in rushing this past season. However, Stefanski did happen to utilize two good receivers as well in Minnesota with Adam Thielen and Stephon Diggs.
Still, there’s no telling what will happen with this roster until we see how the new regime (which still isn’t complete since there’s no general manager yet) operates. Maybe they will believe John Dorsey invested too much at wideout and could look to make a move. It wouldn’t be ideal to dump OBJ after giving up so much, but this staff wasn’t the one who made that investment, so maybe they won’t think much about that.
Clearly fans would be unhappy with this move suggested by Moton and it is rather bold to think it will happen. But it isn’t out of the realm of possibility that Cleveland could make a bold move as they look to turn yet another page in 2020.
