The Cleveland Browns introduced Andrew Berry as its next general manager on Wednesday afternoon. Berry won the press conference, now can he help build a team to win on the field?

The Cleveland Browns officially have a new general manager as Andrew Berry had his introductory press conference this afternoon. Berry sounded sharp, concise and spoke with intent and purpose during the presser.

Berry affirmed that he is close with new head coach Kevin Stefanski, saying that he truly believes that the head coach will succeed. He also noted that he is big on having a collaborative process when it comes to everything in regards to the personal of this team.

Berry also noted that he still believes in former first overall pick, Baker Mayfield, to lead this team moving into the future.

Berry is right to believe that Stefanski can get the best out of Mayfield, otherwise the coaching hire would make little sense. But its going to be up to Berry to surround Mayfield with enough talent in order to see his full potential.

Hitting on draft picks will be key. Andrew Berry needs to consistently be able to bring talent into this organization through the draft process. Something that was not done during Berry’s first tenure here under the leadership of former general manager Sashi Brown.

That inlays the biggest question marks surrounding this hire. Yes, Berry, Stefanski and Paul DePodesta should all be on the same page. Organizational alignment will be achieved. But can this front office acquire new talent, especially through the draft?

Everyone will have their doubts on if that can be accomplished. The proof will be in the pudding for Berry and Stefanski. Unfortunately for them they only have a few months together to prepare for their first test. Come April, the Browns need to hit on some draft picks. If they stay at No. 10 overall, that pick needs to be productive in year one.

Next. 3 players the Cleveland Browns need to consider in the first round. dark

And Browns fans and media alike will be judging this front office based on that pick. Fair or not, that will be the reality so Andrew Berry and Kevin Stefanski needs to roll up their sleeves and lean in to this draft process and make sure they come out with a winner in the first round.
