The Cleveland Browns finally have their defensive coordinator in Joe Woods. Here are 3 players he has previously coached they should consider adding in 2020

It sounds similar to last season, but Cleveland Browns fans are very hopeful about their team as the new year rolls along. Of course, after the same feeling this time a year ago, they were let down in a big way in 2019 with the 6-10 record under head coach Freddie Kitchens, who was let go after just one year.

Kitchens was a fan favorite and had the Dawg Pound stoked about the future after his short, but succesful stint as the interim offensive coordinator. But then he proved quickly that he wasn’t ready for the job and struggled with the big personalities on this roster — as well as with sticking with the game plan and maximizing the talent on his roster.

With him out, they turned to Kevin Stefanski. Like Kitchens, Stefanski will be a rookie but he has a little more experience (not much) in calling plays. Pair that with his offensive weapons and there’s reason for optimism.

And now, they got fans a little more hope as they added a respected defensive coach to replace defensive coordinator Steve Wilks. Joe Woods, who coached the 49ers defensive backs in 2019, is taking over and will put his own stamp on things.

That could include adding players he knows and trusts. Here we look at some players that have worked with him in the past that the Browns could add in free agency during the 2020 season, starting with a bit of a long shot.
