1. Trade a second-round pick for Trent Williams

All of last season, the Cleveland Browns were being connected to the Washington Redskins left tackle, Trent Williams. After declaring he didn’t want to play for Washington any longer after losing faith in the organization and their medical staff, Williams was rumored to be on the move and Cleveland seemed to be the perfect landing spot.

For the final eight games of 2018 and all of 2019, the Browns primary left tackle has been Greg Robinson, a former draft bust out of Auburn. Robinson, who was taken No. 2 overall by the St. Louis Rams in 2014, is on his third team and has yet to make good on the promise he showed while playing in the SEC.

Even with his struggles, he was the best option Cleveland had, which is why they were expected to make a push for Williams, who is one of the best in the game. And the Browns reportedly did make an effort as John Dorsey was trying to strike a deal at the trade deadline but Washington wouldn’t budge.

Now with Bruce Allen out as general manager, the Redskins might be more reasonable and actually trade the disgruntled player. And thanks to Allen playing hardball, the price has likely gone down.

Last season, it was expected that Williams would net a first-round pick, but now that doesn’t seem as likely. Instead, the Browns could find a way to send a second-round pick — and maybe another late-rounder —  to Washington for the veteran left tackle.

Landing him would give Baker Mayfield a blindside protector he can trust. It would also mean they wouldn’t have a glaring need at No. 10 in the coming NFL Draft.
