Three backup quarterbacks Cleveland Browns could sign in free agency

Chad Henne
Another Kansas City Chiefs backup and former Dolphins starter, Chad Henne would be another good option for the Cleveland Browns to go after. With 53 NFL starts underneath his belt, Henne has been around the league and has tons of experience that the Browns young core could benefit learning from.
A former 2nd round pick for the Miami Dolphins, he was their starting quarterback for three seasons after not starting his rookie year, and was replaced by Matt Moore after he was injured in his fourth year with the Dolphins. Henne has been on bad NFL teams most of his career, but has the experience of spending two seasons with the Kansas City Chiefs, securing a super bowl ring this past season.
Henne knows the difference between a winning culture and a losing culture, and could help Baker establish a winning culture in Cleveland. On this list, he is probably the least likely I see coming to the Browns, since if Moore retires then the Chiefs are very unlikely to let Henne walk too. He’s also the one i would least like to see take a snap for the Cleveland Browns. He hasn’t thrown more than five passes in an NFL season since 2014, so he could be rusty if the Browns truly needed him to come in for a game. However, he still could provide a valuable locker room position, which is ultimately what the Browns should be looking for in a backup quarterback.
Regardless, I would expect the Browns to look to change up their personnel with who the backup quarterback is, especially with the new front office is. I’m expecting the Browns to bring in a veteran backup on a team-friendly contract.
