Mayfield will now have a new offensive-minded coach with a solid offensive track record to go along with him as well as a new offensive coordinator in Alex Van Pelt who has the respect of one of the better quarterbacks in the game, Aaron Rodgers.
If they can establish continuity and culture; something they have been missing for a long time with all of the recent coaches, players and other staff members that have bounced around, with all these new guys, look out.
3. He’s still the same guy they drafted
Despite Mayfield having all of the sophomore struggles that he had, that didn’t stop him from bringing a mix of swagger, confidence and chip on the shoulder mentality to the field every Sunday.
Having that swagger and confidence is something that Cleveland has been missing from the quarterback position for quite some time now. If the Browns can get off to a 1-0 start and get some confidence early in the season, the sky is the limit.
