Kareem Hunt confident he will be with Cleveland Browns in 2020

The Cleveland Browns have two very good running backs in Kareem Hunt and Nick Chubb and Hunt expects to stay with the team despite hitting free agency
This past season, the Cleveland Browns had one of the most impressive offensive backfields in the entire NFL. Even after trading away Duke Johnson, who netted them a third-round pick, the Browns had Nick Chubb and former NFL rushing leader Kareem Hunt — although Hunt was sidelined due to an eight-game suspension.
Chubb proved even with Hunt on board, he was the featured back. He finished his second season in the NFL with 1,494 yards and eight touchdowns, just missing out on the NFL rushing title. As for Hunt, he showed a willingness to serve as a third-down back and was used much more as a receiver than a running back.
The fact that he received just 43 carries on the season (and 37 receptions) hasn’t changed his desire to play for his hometown team. In fact, Hunt remains confident that even though he’s headed for free agency he will still be wearing the orange and brown in 2020.
That’s one of the takes that Jeremy Fowler of ESPN had when discussing the upcoming NFL season.
For Hunt, it would make sense to spend at least one more season in Cleveland. Currently, he’s a restricted free agent and the Browns can match any contract offer he receives. Hunt is also still trying to rehab his image following the incident that led to his release with the Kansas City Chiefs.
Back in 2018 a video was released showing Hunt shoving and kicking a woman in a Cleveland hotel. He wisely took his punishment with no appeal but has since continued to make some questionable moves including a recent citation which included police finding marijuana in his car.
So far, it seems no more punishment is coming. However, Hunt could benefit from taking a one-year deal with the Browns and then having a completely silent season. Then, he could really cash in during the 2021 offseason.
It’s a win-win for him and the team as they would get easily the best No. 2 running back in the game on essentially a prove-it contract. And this time, they don’t have to wait until Week 10 to utilize his services.
