Cleveland Browns: Double up on tackle, safety in 7-round mock draft

Round 1, Pick 10: Mekhi Becton, Offensive Tackle, Louisville

With their first selection, Cleveland picks Mekhi Becton from Louisville. His draft stock has been on the rise and looks to be one of the first few tackles selected. He is an enormous player at 6-7 and almost 370 pounds. He could afford to lose a few pounds when he joins the Browns and their training program. Slimming down would allow him to be quicker and more fluid when pass protecting.

For a big man, Becton moves pretty well and is certainly strong. He uses his length and size to wall off defenders in the passing game which is what Cleveland and Mayfield so desperately need. He will allow Mayfield to feel comfortable in the pocket and confident enough to make his reads without fleeing.

Becton is a force when going downhill. He can wash defensive players out of their gaps and allow running lanes for his running backs. Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt will reap the benefits of having Becton, Joel Bitonio and J.C. Tretter on the left side of the offensive line.

This one pick can change the entire offense. Having more time and protection to throw opens up the playbook for the coaching staff and also allows time for our talented receivers like Odell Beckham Jr. and Jarvis Landry to get open. The Browns team will turn around for the better when the offensive line is revamped.

Cleveland fills their biggest need and in a big way. Becton has an enormous ceiling and will get better as the season progresses. Offensive line coach Bill Callahan has been known to develop Pro Bowl players on the line, and the Cleveland Browns will now have their long-time Pro Bowler holding down the blindside.
