Round 6, Pick 167: Myles Bryant, Cornerback, Washington

In the sixth round, the Cleveland Browns select Myles Bryant to try to add depth to the cornerback position. The Browns have two solid starters in Greedy Williams and Denzel Ward, but they have shown a lack of durability.

The Browns need to have capable reserves to fill the place of injured starters. Additionally, the team cut their leading nickel corner, T.J. Carrie. Eric Murray played some slow last year, as he is a hybrid between corner and safety, but Cleveland could use a full-time slot corner.

Bryant is from the University of Washington. He is 5-foot-9 and 185-pounds which is fine for a slot corner.

He needs to be able to stay with shifty slot receivers. Bryant is extremely fast and agile which is perfect for a slot corner. It’s very difficult to guard the middle of the field when the receiver could run around in any direction. Fortunately, this is Bryant’s specialty. His feet are incredibly quick and he is an explosive athlete.

Surely he’s not without flaws, as he is selected in the 6th round. He is undersized and will not be able to cover tall receivers and also may struggle to tackle in the run game. He is a capable tackler, but must rely on form in the NFL to make sure the carrier goes down.

There are concerns here, but in round six this is a great value-add and he has a high ceiling for the Browns as a slot corner.
