New Cleveland Browns general manager Andrew Berry says that the team will listen to any offers made for wide receiver Odell Beckham, Jr.

Usually, when a player is considered a part of a team’s future, that team doesn’t field trade offers for their star player. However, first-year Cleveland Browns general manager Andrew Berry is apparently willing to do just that with Odell Beckham, Jr.

Or at least, that’s what can be deciphered when you listen to his response when asked about whether or not OBJ would be available in a trade this offseason.

Berry said that he wouldn’t mention any specific player but that he worked with Howie Roseman in Philadelphia who excelled at making trades. He stated that Roseman’s philosophy was to always pick up the phone and see what the other team had to offer.

Later, Berry circled back around to Beckham and said that he and head coach Kevin Stefanski wand him to be a part of the team going forward.

"“Odell’s a very talented football player,” Berry said via Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com. “We view him as part of our future. Kevin and I both have had really good conversations about our expectations for him and we expect him to adapt to those moving forward. We’re excited about the future with Odell, excited about what he’s going to do this fall.”"

Since joining the Browns before the 2019 season, OBJ has been a hot topic of conversation. He drew criticism for staying away from OTAs and then made more headlines when he was outside of the league’s policy on uniforms.

First was a watch that he wore on the field that wasn’t approved. After that, OBJ was told to remove a visor that had too much tint. It wasn’t done there as he was later in the headlines for wearing cleats that were outside of the guidelines.

In addition to these instances, OBJ gained attention when reports surfaced that he was trying to get other teams to trade for him. Beckham and others on the team have denied he ever made such requests but the rumors are still persisting.

Berry saying he will pick up the phone isn’t exactly the same as saying they’re trying to trade No. 13. But at the same time, it’s only going to fuel the rumors even more.
