Cleveland Browns need to strongly consider Albert Okwuegbunam in 2020 NFL Draft
The Cleveland Browns will do their due diligence as they prepare for the NFL Draft, but need to strongly consider putting tight end Albert Okwuegbunam in those draft plans.
The Cleveland Browns no doubt have holes on their roster to fill. Like every team, they’ll look towards April’s NFL Draft to fill a good number of those holes and find players that they hope will be able to contribute for the team for many years to come. Following a strong showing on Thursday, Missouri tight end Albert Okwuegbunam should be strongly considered by the Browns to fill one of the biggest holes on the offense.
With injury concerns surrounding David Njoku, and the expected departure of Ricky Seals-Jones, bringing in a quality tight end to contribute this season and beyond, should the team not re-sign Njoku after this season, is almost certainly a must.
Okwuegbunam dazzled scouts as he ran a 4.49 40-yard dash, one of the fastest times ever recorded by a tight end in Combine history.

It’s not just his speed that’s impressive, however, but the fact that he’s that fast while being six-foot-five and 258-pounds. He also has the game tape to help prove how much of an athletic freak he is.
His blend of speed and athleticism, all packed into that large frame, makes him a commodity in today’s NFL game, as offense’s look for the tight ends who can punish people on the edge of the line, while also being a mismatch down the field in the passing game.
Okwuegbunam finished his career at Missouri with nearly 1,200 yards and 23 touchdowns off of 98 passes. He’s more than proved on film that he belongs near the top of the draft board when it comes to tight ends, and helped solidify that with two strong times in the 40-yard dash.
If Cleveland is serious about finding that next great offensive mismatch, they need look no further than the former Missouri Tiger. He’d not only be able to provide a spark from day one, but also help give Baker Mayfield one more reliable target.
With a new staff and new offense, as well as attempting to bounce back from a rough sophomore season, you can never have too many play-makers to take a bit of pressure off of you.
