Denzel Mims, wide receiver out of Baylor has a solid day at Thursday’s combine, makes case to be the Cleveland Browns WR3

Outside of the Cleveland Browns two star wide receivers, there are quite a few question marks surrounding who will round out that wide receiver position and who will take that WR3 spot.

If they decide to go free agency or re-sign a player on the roster currently, we could see a familiar face in brown and orange. If they take to the draft, there are few guys who quickly come to mind to fill that hole. One of those guys? Denzel Mims.

Mims comes in at 6-foot-3, towering over both current Browns receivers in Odell Beckham, Jr. as well as Jarvis Landry. Size is key, especially when it comes time for red-zone targets. Size, however, is definitely not everything when it comes to defining a star wideout.

In Thursday’s combine drills, Mims ran a speedy 4.40 time in the 40-yard dash. Being that quick with all that size and strength already on him, Mims could be a very solid addition to this already stacked Browns wide receiving core. Here are Mims full numbers from Thursday’s combine drills:

Mims has also shown signs of showing up big-time in big games in his college career. One of his top games with Baylor came against No.3 ranked Oklahoma, where he went for a whopping 11 receptions, 192 yards, and 3 touchdowns.

Mims is also in the top 15 all-time at Baylor in the following categories: receiving yards, touchdowns and receptions. Mims is also known for some sick highlight-reel catches and an insane catch radius.

Without a doubt, Mims is a top receiver prospect on many scouts draft boards across the league.

Realistically, the Browns could look to target Mims in the second or third round of the draft. If he is still there in the third, he could be a very dangerous addition that could electrify any offense.
