Joe Schobert effect: Next 3 Cleveland Browns Andrew Berry could replace
By Mitch Zoloty
The Cleveland Browns are reportedly letting star linebacker Joe Schobert walk in free agency. Here are a few Browns from last season that could follow in his footsteps with Andrew Berry now in charge.
The Cleveland Browns are reportedly not bringing back star linebacker Joe Schobert, because they do not value him to be worth 10 million dollars per year. This means that the rest of the Browns roster who are making large contracts or seeking them could be in serious trouble.
Schobert has been the most productive Browns player over the past three seasons, so it was quite surprising to see them not wanting to continue to receive his level of production.
The Browns have a few other players on their roster who aren’t producing nearly as much as Schobert did and are making similar salaries that he was seeking, so their futures in Cleveland could be cloudy also. According to overthecap.com, the Cleveland Browns have around $62 million in free cap space at the moment. However, the team seems to be holding that cap space in high regard and are looking to get more.
Whether they are keeping their cap space to sign big free agents, have carryover money for the future, or saving cap space to not spend as much money on the team, it seems that the team will be making some serious changes again.
The team is also paying around $8.7 million in dead money, according to overthecap.com. This is a decently high amount of money to pay players to not play for you, so the team could keep this number into consideration when making their next round of roster adjustments. With all that being said, let’s evaluate the rest of the roster and see who might not be wearing brown and orange next season.
