Cleveland Browns new uniforms returning to classic look?
By Dan Justik
The Cleveland Browns will be revealing new uniforms in April and the belief is they will be returning to their classic look.
The Cleveland Browns attempted to revitalize their fan base in 2015 when they revealed new uniforms prior to the 2015 NFL Draft. The initial reaction went well, as some saw it as a needed change. However, the fan base quickly changed their minds about the uniforms.
Once the Browns took the field with their new uniforms, it was evident the organization and Nike took the jerseys a step too far. For fans watching games at home, the uniforms made it hard to watch games on TV.
After the fan base made it clear to the organization that the new uniforms were duds, the Browns started the process of changing their uniforms. With the five-season window of keeping a set of uniforms ending after the 2019 season, the Browns will be revealing their new uniforms in April. And the new uniforms may be returning to their classic look.

After a year or two with Cleveland’s “modern uniforms,” the Dawg Pound started to grow fond of the team’s old uniforms again. Once the Browns announced they would be changing uniforms following the 2019 season, most of the fan base wanted to return to the uniforms the Browns donned since returning in 1999, and practically the entire duration of the franchise.
When the team announced in 2019 they will be unveiling new uniforms, the organization said they wanted to “embrace the team’s rich tradition” and they took a “nothing-fancy” mindset with the uniforms they would reveal in 2020.
Cleveland’s new uniforms were also in the news Tuesday because NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported Odell Beckham Jr. will be a part of the uniform’s unveiling. That may not be surprising news since Beckham is one of the stars of the team, but it puts a hole in the Beckham trade rumors this offseason.
Towards the end of last season, in which Beckham was not having the impact on the Browns offense he was expected to, the noise about a potential Beckham trade became louder. However, Beckham said he wanted to be in Cleveland and the new front office and coaching staff have said he is a part of the Browns’ future. Despite that, the trade rumors have continued this offseason.
Although the organization could quickly make a change with their uniform reveal if Beckham is surprisingly traded, Rapoport’s report reinforces the organization’s statements that Beckham will be on the roster in 2020.
Beckham wearing the orange and brown in 2020 will be a welcomed sight for many Browns fans, as will the uniforms that should resemble the team’s classic look.
