No. 1: Johnny Manziel QB, Texas A & M: No. 22 overall pick 2014

The selection of Johnny Manziel was a train wreck from start to finish.  From owner Jimmy Haslam forcing Ray Farmer to select him, to the story of the homeless man asking Haslam to pick Manziel. The whole thing stank from the beginning.

Off the field, we know of Johnny Football’s problems. A variety of issues led to Manziel being one of the all-time busts in NFL history.

From right after the draft when he held a wad of money up to his ear and he was floating on a swan in Las Vegas to the day he actually missed a game because he flew out to Vegas to try to fix his home life, Manziel’s time in the NFL was quick and sad.

Manziel said this to the Tomahawk Podcast about the day he missed that Pittsburgh game, via Cleveland.com:

"“I get back to the room or 3 or 4 in the morning,” he said. “It’s already 7 East Coast time, and we play (the Steelers) at 1. I have to be there (for concussion treatment with the Browns) at 8 which is in an hour. I just turn my phone off and throw it in the drawer and ‘We’ll figure it out when we wake up.’ ”"

On the field, things didn’t go much better for Manziel. One could see that he was incapable of handling an NFL playbook as offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan really dumbed down his play-calling when Manziel was forced to play in 2014.

For his career he played in only 15 games and threw for 1,675 yards and seven touchdowns, completing just 57 percent of his passes. Manziel was eventually cut when Hue Jackson came in as head coach in 2016.
