4. Joe Schobert, LB, 2016-Present

Joe Schobert came into the league out of Wisconsin in the fourth round of the 2016 draft. He was a former walk-on who nearly went to North Dakota before a change of heart led him to his spot on the Badgers program.

His draft profile highlighted exactly the type of player he is for the Browns today; a cerebral, plus-man coverage linebacker who will bring you down. He didn’t start right away in Cleveland.

His rookie season saw Schobert earn his keep on special teams before he moved into the starting role. Once he secured the starting spot, though, he flourished. In 2017, Schobert played 100 percent of the defensive snaps, led the league in tackles, and earned his first Pro Bowl nod.

Since then, he has consistently been near the top of the league in tackles. In 2019, Joe the Scho elevated his pass defense, recording 4 interceptions (which led the team) and 9 passes defensed (which is second on the team). 4 years into his tenure, Schobert has cemented himself as one of the pivotal pieces of the Browns defense.

He is someone the new Andrew Berry led regime needs to consider re-signing. If a deal cannot be done, the Browns will have a Pro Bowl sized hole in the heart of the defense.
