Predicting 3 free agents who sign with the Cleveland Browns
No. 1: Nick Kwiatkoski, LB
Nick Kwiatkowski would be a fine addition for the Cleveland Browns to help replace Joe Schobert, who is leaving via free agency. Kwiatkowski filled in at linebacker for the Bears last season when Danny Trevathan was injured for the final seven games.
Filling in for Trevathan, Kwiatkowski shined with 76 tackles, three sacks and a forced fumble. Furthermore, he played solid in both pass protection and against the run for the middle of the Bears defense. He also showed the ability to rush the passer as evident here:
The Browns should be in the market for a linebacker with the expected departure of Schobert. Cleveland also decided to release Christian Kirksey, leaving the Browns thin at the linebacker position. The position group is comprised mostly of young players, creating a need for a veteran.
Reports have come out of Chicago that the Bears are looking to re-sign Kwiatkowski, so it will be interesting to see his market value on the open market with several teams bidding.
But with a price tag that should be much lower than Schobert’s (one of the main reasons why the Browns are letting Schobert walk), Kwiatkowski may be just the player Andrew Berry is looking at for the Browns when free agency opens.
