The Cleveland Browns need at least one new safety in 2020 and these three soon-to-be-available free agents could come in and start right away for them

This past season, the Cleveland Browns were supposed to be solid at safety. They had Damarious Randall returning following a great 2018 campaign. And he was supposed to be even more motivated as he was in a contract year. In addition to Randall playing free safety, the Browns also signed Morgan Burnett who was formerly with the Green Bay Packers and  Pittsburgh Steelers for one season.

Unfortunately, things didn’t go as well for them as expected. Randall was visibly unhappy and had one of the least productive seasons of his career. At this point, it’s all but guaranteed he won’t be back next season as he hits free agency.

Burnett, on the other hand, is still under contract but he’s coming off a torn Achilles. At 31-years of age, there’s no way of knowing how he will bounce back from that injury. He’s also not a lock for the 53-man roster considering he was a favorite of former general manager John Dorsey and the new regime — GM Andrew Berry and head coach Kevin Stefanski — seem willing to move on from anyone Dorsey brought in.

That means the Browns could be in play for more than one safety this offseason — although it’s fairly certain they will at the minimum add one. With that being said, we look at the top four safeties set for free agency that would be a perfect fit for this team.
