Sign – Anthony Harris, Safety

With safety being such a need for the Browns next year, Anthony Harris is a no brainer. The rising star has a history with Kevin Stefanski already and played under defensive back coach Jeff Howard with the Minnesota Vikings. Harris saw his first full season as a starter in 2019 and became an instant play-maker.

After coming off a $3 million per year deal in 2019, Harris is looking to capture a multi-year deal over the $10 million annually mark. While some have speculated Harris is a product of a great fit in a Mike Zimmer defense, multiple teams will have an interest in the talented safety. Will the Browns be prepared to put up the money they weren’t willing to spend on Schobert? The fit is too perfect to pass!

Pass – Cory Littleton, Middle Linebacker

No one was more devastated than I when it was reported the Browns were prepared to move on from Joe Schobert. Yes, Schobert was likely a good player on a bad team and it was smart to let him walk, but I’m not sure paying the Los Angeles Rams past linebacker big dollars is the answer. Cory Littleton has played 16 games in two straight seasons for the Rams and was elected to the Pro Bowl in 2018 after posting three interceptions, four sacks, and 125 tackles.

The Rams had a disappointing season in 2019, but the stats only get better for Littleton, as he posted two interceptions, 3.5 sacks, and 134 tackles. After signing a second-round tender last year for $3.09 million, Littleton will be looking for similar if not more money than Schobert. With the Browns passing on Schobert, I look for them to try to find a cheaper option at linebacker. Littleton is extremely athletic but could struggle to shed blockers in a system the doesn’t have Aaron Donald requiring a double team every play.
