Pick Analysis. EzraCleveland. OT. player. Pick 27. 895. Scouting Report. Round 1

Trade Alert: The Browns make a trade with their very first pick as they give up their No. 10 overall pick to the Seattle Seahawk’s for the 27th pick in the opening round as well as the 59th in the second and162nd in the fifth.

Several offers were thrown around but this was the best deal to be made. For the Browns, they now can add three premium players as they end up with three picks in the first 59 selections — which sounds almost as promising as when John Dorsey had four picks in the first 35.

With their opening pick, they take Ezra Cleveland out of Boise State. While some other possibilities — such as Josh Jones from Houston — were on the board, there are too many rumors about the team being smitten with Cleveland to pass on him.

While Cleveland was already expected to be a good player in the NFL, he didn’t get as much attention as he probably should have considering he was playing in the Mountain West Conference for the Broncos. That changed when he got to Indianapolis and lit up the Combine.

The 6-foot-6, 311-pound offensive tackle proved that in addition to his strength (30 reps on the bench press) he also has great mobility by running the 40-yard dash in 4.93 seconds. He also got some air as he hit 30 inches on a vertical leap, which is impressive for such a big body.

He may not be the high-profile name that Browns fans wanted but Ezra Cleveland will be a long-time starter in the NFL and the team hits a home run since they get a plug and play starter while still adding more assets.
