The Cleveland Browns didn’t get a lot of production from rookies in 2019 but there a couple of guys who showed the potential to stick around.

It didn’t look like it at the time but the 2019 draft would be John Dorsey‘s last as the general manager of the Cleveland Browns. There was a multitude of things that led to Dorsey getting the boot but a poor draft class was definitely a factor — although none contributed as much as his decision to hire Freddie Kitchens as the head coach, which clearly backfired on him.

For starters, he traded their first-round pick to the New York Giants as a part of the trade he brought Odell Beckham Jr. to Cleveland. And while he is a talented payer he performance was underwhelming in his first year with the Browns.

Cleveland didn’t make their first selection until the second round, 46th overall — after trading up to that spot. Some of these rookies battled injuries and others were forced into action due to injury to other players.

They only used one pick on offense last year so all of the impact made by rookies came on the defensive side of the ball and just like every draft there were a couple of misses but most of these guys will stick around in the NFL for a while. There could also be some long-time Browns from the 2019 draft class.

This list doesn’t include undrafted free agents like the “Scottish Hammer” punter Jamie Gillian who had a great rookie season. Let’s take a look at the performance and potential of these seven young players.
