The Cleveland Browns started adding depth to its linebackers unit during free agency. They need to still add more through the draft.

The Cleveland Browns signed free agent linebacker BJ Goodson from the Green Bay Packers to add some depth to a thin linebacker unit. With Mack Wilson expected to grab one starting job, the other two are wide open.

Sione Takitaki is expected to compete and with not much else on the roster, the Browns need to desperately add players to the linebackers room. Here are three players who could be late-round selections to keep your eye on.

No. 3:  David Woodward, Utah State

David Woodward was projected to be a late fourth-round pick by Matt Miller of Bleacher Report in a recent mock draft. Woodward projects as a MIKE linebacker in the NFL who is a very stout tackler and seems to have the intelligence to handle the responsibilities.

The 6-foot-2, 235-pound linebacker registered 252 total tackles, eight sacks, and six forced fumbles during his three-year playing career at Utah State. And in 2018 he led the Mountain West Conference in tackles with 134.

Woodward does have an injury history as he was only able to play in seven games in 2017 and again only seven games last season. But when healthy, Woodward is a force. Here is whatKyle Crabbs of The Draft Network had to say about him:

"“David Woodward projects as a starting linebacker at the pro level — he’s got the necessary processing skills to be an effective MIKE LB. Woodward will need a viable interior defensive line in front of him to protect him from blocks, but his mental processing allows him to beat blockers to the spot.” – Crabbs, The Draft Network"

Not a bad player to keep an eye on in the third day of the 2020 NFL Draft.
