Olivier Vernon, Defensive End

Although Olivier Vernon isn’t a bad player, he has been injury stricken his last three seasons and his contract is not a small sum to shell out. $15.5 million dollars this year and last year and he only played 10 games last year in 2019, 11 games played in 2018, and 12 games played in 2017.

This past season in 2019, his first season with the Cleveland Browns, Vernon had one of his worst production years so far. Who knows if that is injury related or maybe he is slowing down? Vernon turns 30-years-old this year, but as fans we see players play through the age stigma plenty. As Cleveland Browns fans though, let’s hope he is one player who will push towards a healthier season and produce like he has in the past.

Even with only playing 10 games last year, Pro Football Focus still ranked him as the 21st best edge defender. That is pretty impressive for not having any real appealing stats. Last I knew he would be released if he didn’t accept a pat cut anyway. The Cleveland Browns have not struck a new deal with the veteran, and the team currently plans on keeping the defensive end in 2020.
