Odell Beckham Jr. – Wide Receiver

This is the one fans, and experts love to predict where he will be traded next. Odell Beckham Jr. was the flashy trade of 2019, acquired by John Dorsey from the New York Giants. Does Andrew Berry think Beckham Jr. is worth the $14.25 million owed to him in 2020 or the $15.75 in 2021? Likely not, but that doesn’t mean there will be any changes for the 2020 season.

As mentioned before the Browns are in fine cap shape for 2020, with over $40 million left to spend. Why not keep the superstar around to see if he can get healthy and have another year like he did in 2014-2016? Does Beckham Jr. bring some drama and controversy with him? Absolutely, but what has the guy done wrong in Cleveland? Yes, he wore an expensive watch (that was silly), but other than that the guy has busted his hump and played through injuries to try and help the team.

I don’t think Beckham Jr. has lived up to expectations and likely hasn’t earned the big dollars on his contract, but why not keep a talented guy around to help Mayfield. 100 percent agree after another two years, he’s gone, he isn’t worth the money with other important players and positions to sign extensions.

However, please stop with the trade talk. Unfortunately, at this point, the Browns would be lucky to get a second-round pick for someone to take on OBJ’s contract. After giving up a first and second-round pick on top of Jabrill Peppers for Beckham Jr., there is no reason to not let this play out.

It could still end up being a terrible trade but remember, after this year his contract is free of dead money. Take the risk he will come back healthy and perform at a high level knowing there is a risk you cut him next year and get nothing in return.
