2. Clay Matthews, Linebacker

On to defense. Without a doubt, the best player on the Browns current defense is edge rusher Myles Garrett. In terms of the current roster, the Browns could definitely use another big-time playmaker on the defensive side of the ball — especially at linebacker.

The best linebacker currently for the Browns is Mack Wilson. Wilson will be heading into his second year this year, coming off of a very solid rookie season. If the Browns were able to bring back a game-changer like Clay Matthews, they would have a very tough defense.

Matthews was with the Browns for 16 years, racking up 62 sacks to go along with 14 interceptions and 1,561 tackles. In one of his best seasons with the Browns in 1984, Matthews tallied up 12 total sacks, only four off from averaging one sack per game. Matthews was a huge piece of that retro Browns defense, something that the Browns are looking for more of in the near future with the current team.

The talented and wildly popular linebacker will always go down as one of the best Browns players of all time, and he would do wonders if he was able to play with some of the stars the Browns have today.
