. Defensive End. Detroit Lions. Chase Young. 3. player. 50

The Detroit Lions will now get the top pass rusher in the draft fall in their lap after an aggressive trade by the Dolphins. The Lions could be tempted to trade with a team like the Los Angeles Chargers who will be desperate for a quarterback and competing with the Jacksonville Jaguars who are also likely looking to upgrade at QB.

Chase Young from Ohio State will be too much to pass in this draft and I don’t see the Lions moving out of the No. 3 spot. Given the success of recent rookie pass rushers, this decision will be a touch easier. Two of the top rushers have the same last name (Bosa) and played Collegiate ball at Ohio State.

Young has proven to be a dual-threat setting the edge in the run game and being able to get to the quarterback even when double-teamed. His freak athleticism will allow for some mistakes even at the next level.

New York Giants. Isaiah Simmons. 4. player. 31. . Linebacker/Safety

The New York Giants are working through a complete rebuild and need help on both sides of the ball. Many experts predict Isaiah Simmons is the most talented player in the draft, but teams value quarterback and pass rushers too much to take number one.

No better scenario could playout for the Giants to land a dominant defensive player that could perform at an All-Pro level like Derwin James in his rookie campaign. The Giants will be tempted to take one of the top tackles, but I don’t see them passing a talent like Simmons.

Simmons stock rose to all-time highs after the NFL combine but has since cooled off by some experts. Given his 6-foot-4 frame, and 4.39 forty-yard dash time I see Simmons as a safety at the next level even though many have him as a linebacker. Either way given his flexibility, don’t expect Simmons dropping out of the top five.
