TRADE – Washington Redskins to Los Angeles Chargers
After striking out in free agency for a quarterback, including the pursuit of Hall of Famer Tom Brady, the Los Angeles Chargers will be after a quarterback with the sixth pick. After 16 years with Phillip Rivers as the field general, the Chargers find themselves very thin at quarterback with Tyrod Taylor as the best available option.
The Chargers will be set on Oregon Duck product, Just Herbert who came into this draft class as the number one rated player before an up and down 2019 season. A strong combine should have solidified Herbert’s spot in the top ten.
Unfortunately for the Chargers, the Redskins will have too much leverage and force them to trade up one spot. While the Redskins have three mediocre quarterbacks and appear set, the Chargers will not want to even have them be tempted to draft Herbert.
TRADE – Los Angeles Chargers to Washington Redskins
There are a few questions to ask here; are the Washington Redskins satisfied with Dwayne Haskins or Kyle Allen at quarterback? Will Alex Smith ever play football again after a gruesome leg injury? And lastly, what position do they see most necessary to upgrade on Defense?
Given how desperate the Dolphins and Chargers will be for quarterbacks, the Redskins could win the draft by trading back two different times and still landing a top-three talent in Jeff Okuda. Not only would the Redskins in up with the lock-down corner from Ohio State, but they would also acquire additional second or third-round picks to draft more talent.
The Lions could be tempted to take Okuda with the departure of Darius Slay, but if Chase Young is on the board at three, they will look to bolster the secondary in later rounds.
It appears after trading for Allen the Redskins believe they have their quarterback and will be happy to draft defensive needs while collecting assets to move back. The need for quarterbacks could lead to a huge draft day win for the Redskins.
