The Cleveland Browns can look to add depth at wide receiver in the 2020 NFL Draft. They can look to replace Rashard Higgins while adding young talent.

The Cleveland Browns have one of the best wide receiver groups in the NFL, starring Jarvis Landry and Odell Beckham Jr.

The wide receiver class in the 2020 NFL Draft could go down in history as one of the most talented groups ever.

With Rashard Higgins still testing unrestricted free agency, Beckham and Landry both returning to Berea from offseason surgeries and a lack of depth, the Browns could look to cash in on this year’s attractive wide receiver class. Currently, other than Beckham and Landry, the Browns only employ KhaDarel Hodge, Damion Ratley, and Taywan Taylor.

With Hodge and Ratley’s potential still widely unknown, and Taylor a bonafide special teamer, the Browns could very well address the need for a cheap wide receiver in the draft.

Let’s check out what receivers could make the most sense for the Browns. I’ll start with high-end prospects and move into some sleepers.

5. CeeDee Lamb, Oklahoma Sooners

In a draft loaded with receiver talent, let’s start at the top with CeeDee Lamb. The 6-foot-2 receiver out of Oklahoma had a meeting at the combine with the Cleveland Browns, where he disclosed to Browns brass that Baker Mayfield was the best quarterback to ever throw him the ball at his time with the Sooners.

Lamb would likely cost the Browns the No. 10 overall pick, a selection that has widely been assumed to be a left tackle. However, if the Browns agree to a trade for Washington’s Trent Williams, or bring in free agent Jason Peters, reuniting Mayfield and Lamb in Cleveland could be a possibility.

Lamb possesses an elite downfield ability for Mayfield as he has an incredible ability to track the football in the air. He has really solid hands and does not drop the football. His speed, hands, and ball skills have even drawn comparisons to Odell Beckham Jr., who the Browns would possibly have to trade away in order to find a role for Lamb.

Even though the Browns met with Lamb, and he has a history with Mayfield, it’s still unrealistic for Cleveland to draft him as high as his talents warrant. Let’s look deeper at this class.
