Cleveland needed to make some changes at safety this season as they decided against re-signing Damarious Randall. They also released Morgan Burnett which meant their two top safeties were gone and they were down to just Sheldrick Redwine.

They ended up doing well, coming to terms with Karl Joseph and Andrew Sendejo. Each of those players is capable of starting but the only problems revolve around Sendejo’s age and the length of the deals. Both players are on one-year contracts and Sendejo is much closer to the end than the beginning of his career.
With that being said, there’s a high probability that general manager Andrew Berry is going to add a player at safety in the 2020 NFL Draft — most likely in Round 2 or 3. One possible option during the second day is Cal’s Ashtyn Davis. While he hasn’t gotten the same attention some of the other safeties have, there’s a chance the Browns have at least looked at him.
However, he’s not a player who should be considered in Cleveland. One issue is his slower reaction time — which is a significant drop off from some of the other prospects. In addition to this, he’s going to be 24 as a rookie as well, which is something the Browns should avoid if possible this season.
This class is deep at safety with guys such as Jeremy Chinn, Kyle Dugger, and Antoine Winfield, Jr. standing out as solid options at No. 41. Cleveland should pull the trigger if any of them are there but wait if not.
