After months of waiting, the day has finally come for the Cleveland Browns to reveal their 2020 uniforms. Initial reaction is a classic throwback, with not a ton of changes.
Typically waiting for something like a uniform reveal is difficult, but nothing compares to this year with no other sports going on amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. Typically, fans would be coming off the high of a new Masters champion and getting ready for the NBA playoffs.
Instead, today Cleveland Browns fans sat and waited for the unveiling of the 2020 uniforms and focusing heavily on the NFL Draft set for next week.
After a disappointing 2019 season, Browns fans are anxious for any win, even if it is just a jersey. While I’m personally stoked about the new uniforms, let’s not forget winning on the field in 2020 is the most important thing. Not the offseason, and certainly not the new jerseys.

The initial reaction is clean, simple, and retro, which I am a huge fan of. But the more it sets the more I think that there are very few changes from the past uniforms. I’m perfectly fine with this, I love the past look and maybe it gives the Browns hope for success like they had in the late 80’s and early 90’s, which fans are so desperate for.
Two recommendations I have for improvement: First, bring back the white face masks. The helmet is a little too blah without. Secondly, let’s get some orange pants as well. The brown on brown color rush is probably my favorite look, but orange pants would certainly go well with the brown or white jersey. Last thing I will add, let’s make sure the white on white is utilized. It’s always an option, but they always end up getting paired with brown pants.
Expectations were extremely high for these uniforms, which usually leads to more disappointment than excitement. Keep in mind, without a true logo there isn’t a ton that can be done.
For now, I will give a passing grade on the uniforms, but it certainly won’t promote a ton of fans to go buy new jerseys. We still have the season to look forward to, where eight or nine wins will make everyone forget about the uniforms.
