As general manager Andrew Berry and the Cleveland Browns make final preparations for the NFL Draft, here are three players they need to avoid.

The Cleveland Browns are in the final stages of draft preparation. With the NFL Draft set to take place on April 23, newly appointed general manager Andrew Berry is almost ready to lead his first draft. The Browns currently have major needs to fill at linebacker, safety and offensive line. It is imperative that the address all three issues in the draft.

With that being said, the Browns are currently sitting with the No. 10 overall pick. With so many draft prospects to evaluate and rank, Cleveland needs to be able to hit on its first pick. Whether it be a linebacker, safety or the most mentioned offensive tackle with the No. 10 pick, there are some players Cleveland must avoid selecting at the risk of having another first round bust.

Here are three players to stay away from in the first round for Cleveland.

No. 3: Javon Kinlaw DT, South Carolina

Javon Kinlaw is considered to be a top-15 player in this draft and could be a consideration for the Browns if there is a run on offensive tackles early in the draft. Kinlaw would be the second-best interior defensive linemen in this draft behind Auburn’s Derrick Brown, who is a much more polished player.

Kinlaw has excellent size, strength and mobility for a 300-plus pound defensive tackle. However, he lacks a consistent pad level and was knocked off-balance way too easy at times while at South Carolina.

Lance Zierlein of NFL Network noted that Kinlaw’s playing style lacks control and efficiency and while he looks great at times, he doesn’t have solid technique for the consistency needed when on the field.

Kinlaw, while looking dominant at times, did not have the type of production numbers-wise that you would expect from a top-10 pick. For the 2019 season, Kinlaw had 35 tackles, six tackles for loss and six sacks. He just leaves scouts wanting more and if Cleveland wanted to go defensive tackle in the first round, it should be Derrick Brown or bust.
