As Cleveland Browns fans anxiously await the NFL Draft to begin next Thursday, let’s take a deeper dive into late-round options.

The draft is getting close and now with the unveiling of the Cleveland Brown’s new uniforms this week, there seems to be even more excitement in the air. The fact that Americans haven’t watched a live sport in over a month also adds some additional excitement. Fans may only see Roger Goodell in his basement, but it will be a welcomed sight.

It appears nearly certain the Browns will go with a starting tackle at pick No. 10. It’s becoming more and more unclear if the Browns will attempt to trade back while attempting to accomplishing that or if they will just stay put.

If the Browns want to land one of the top four tackles, they must be careful how far they trade back given the eagerness of other teams to get their hands on one. Some experts predict six-plus offensive tackles could go on the first night of the draft.

Speculation currently suggests that the top four tackles will be off the board before pick no. 15.  With left tackle being such a hole currently, the Browns can’t afford to be aggressive and miss out.  If I see Chris Hubbard as a starter for any game other than injury, I’ll likely go crazy. Look for the Browns to stay put and take Andrew Thomas if still available.

With one second-round pick and two-third rounders (pick No. 90 via Houston for Duke Johnson) the Browns need to continue to add depth on all three phases of the defense. Look for the Browns to add a safety, linebacker and edge rusher in that order. If a player would happen to fall in the draft, that order could change, but the Browns must bolster a defense that was very average at times last year.

Starting in the fourth round the Browns can start to think about future offensive plans and look for young talent to add. With a deep class at wide receiver, you could potentially get a second or third-round type talent at pick No. 115.  Here are a few possibilities.
