The Daily Dawg Tags bring you all the Cleveland Browns news you need to know, including the Iowa head coach talking up Tristan Wirfs fit with the team

With the 2020 NFL Draft happening later this week, the rumors are in full swing and everyone is expecting the Cleveland Browns to land their left tackle of the future. Some of the usual suspects in mock drafts for them have included Mekhi Becton, Andrew Thomas, and Ezra Cleveland in a trade-down scenario.

Those aren’t the only big-name tackles, but they are the ones who fit on the left side. However, there are others who could make the switch which includes Iowa’s Tristan Wirfs. And the head coach for the Hawkeyes has said that Wirfs can excel on that side should a team such as the Browns give him the chance.

Of course, the difference between the left and right side has often been grossly over-stated and just because Wirfs spent the majority of his collegiate career doesn’t mean he can’t help Cleveland on the blindside. And he has proven leading up to the draft to have freakish athleticism that would help him deal with the speed rushers he could face.

Iowa coach Kirk Ferentz: ‘Freakish’ Tristan Wirfs could easily play LT for Browns or any other NFL team — Mary Kay Cabot, Cleveland.com

"“He just does some things that are freakish and I don’t use that term very often,” Ferentz said. “Some of the things he does, no guy his size (6-5, 320) should be able to vertical jump like he can, walk on his hands like he can — just those kinds of things.’’"

Mel Kiper’s Two-Round 2020 NFL Mock Draft for the Browns — Chris Pokorny, Dawgs by Nature

"No. 41: Cleveland Browns – S Grant Delpit, LSU – “Last year, the Browns got a first-round talent from LSU on Day 2 in cornerback Greedy Williams. In this scenario, an LSU safety with first-round talent drops to Cleveland on Day 2. I thought at one point that Delpit might go in the top 10 picks, but his inconsistencies throughout the 2019 season will likely see him drop to the second round. If he can put it all together, he could be a Pro Bowl all-around safety.”"

Kiper had Mekhi Becton going to the Browns at 10 and Grant Delpit at 41. Should the draft really play out this way, Cleveland would be landing two legitimate starters at positions of major need. That would be quite the win.

Cleveland Browns 2020 mock draft: Flurry of trades net two 1st-rounders — Mike Graham, Factory of Sadness

"“So the Browns move down a few times, and Andrew Berry still gets his guy. They have done extensive work on him, and are rumored to have done so on Josh Jones, too. As a result, the Browns end up with picks 46 and 68 to maybe make a few moves as well.”"

The trades might not happen exactly how Graham predicts but this wouldn’t be a surprising outcome at all. Berry seems to be all-in on Ezra Cleveland and landing him as well as extra picks would be a solid move for the first-year GM.

One writer thinks Odell Beckham, Jr. will be traded by Cleveland Browns eventually

The rumors about OBJ being traded are becoming a weekly thing and we should all realize that in the NFL, where there’s smoke, there is always fire. And one writer believes that this means Beckham will eventually be traded by Cleveland.
