ESPN NFL draft “guru”, Mel Kiper released his latest mock draft last Tuesday. The Cleveland Browns could a lot of interest for teams wanting to trade up with them, should they consider?

Does anyone have a cooler job than Mel Kiper? Maybe the weatherman, who is the only other human being to get paid to be right less than 50 percent of the time. While Kiper may not have all the answers, he is certainly as good as anyone at predicting draft picks.

Let’s not beat a dead horse once again, the Cleveland Browns need an offensive tackle badly in this draft and it seems silly to not get one of the top four prospects who all appear to be potential pro-bowlers. Recently the rumors won’t go away that the Browns could be interested in a tier two tackle like Ezra Cleveland from Boise State.

If that is the case, could the Browns look to trade back in the draft and still get “their guy”? Is all this chatter just a giant smokescreen from Andrew Berry? I certainly hope so as Tristan Wirfs, Mekhi Becton, Jedrick Wills Jr., and Andrew Thomas are too great of tackles to pass upon.

Certainly, the Browns understand the importance of left tackle, as the only cornerstone player, the Browns have had since 1999 is Joe Thomas. Since Thomas’s departure, the left tackle position has been a revolving door with no success of stopping edge rushers.

After seeing Baker Mayfield sacked 40 times last season, this is no time to be aggressive and trade back. The Browns must get one of the top four tackles to give themselves a shot at the playoffs next year.  Is there a possible scenario to get both?

Kiper’s 4.0 mock through pick No. 14

1 – Cincinnati Bengals; Joe Burrow, Quarterback, LSU

2 – Washington Redskins; Chase Young, Defensive End, Ohio State

3 – Detroit Lions; Jeff Okudah, Cornerback, Ohio State

4 – New York Giants; Isaiah Simmons, Safety/Linebacker, Clemson

5 – Miami Dolphins; Justin Herbert, Quarterback, Oregon

6 – Los Angeles Chargers; Tua Tagovailoa, Quarterback, Alabama

7 – Carolina Panthers; Derrick Browns, Defensive Line, Auburn

8 – Arizona Cardinals; Tristan Wirfs, Offensive Tackle, Iowa

9 – Jacksonville Jaguars; Jerry Jeudy, Wide Receiver, Alabama

10 – Cleveland Browns; Mekhi Becton, Offensive Tackle, Louisville

11 – New York Jets; Jedrick Wills Jr., Offensive Tackle, Alabama

12 – Las Vegas Raiders; C.J. Henderson, Cornerback, Florida

13 – San Francisco 49ers; CeeDee Lamb, Wide Receiver, Oklahoma

14 – Tampa Bay Buccaneers; Andrew Thomas, Offensive Tackle, Georgia

A few key takeaways the Browns must keep in mind.  There is a 99 percent chance the top four tackles are off the board by pick No. 15, and a 75 percent chance they are all gone after pick no. 11.  If the draft goes as Kiper mocks, let’s check a few scenarios that could be beneficial to the Browns.
