JeremyChinn. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. Safety. 48. player. 53. Southern Illinois

It’s on to the second round and the pick here is straight forward. The Browns need a starting safety and the second round is brimming with opportunity. However, the top prospect will likely still be on the board in the next few picks.

With this knowledge, the Browns will again seek and find trade value in their pick. The New York Jets are the suitor with the most to offer and move up to take No. 41. In exchange, the Browns collect the Jets second-round pick, No. 48, and their third-round pick at No. 79.

With the 48th pick, the Browns select safety Jeremy Chinn from Southern Illinois. Chinn is an athletic freak. He’s strong, fast, he can tackle better than any defensive back on the Browns roster currently, and he can cover in both zone and man coverage. Chinn is the total package and it’s a travesty he’s not a first-round pick. Luckily for the Browns, they get the best pure safety in the draft and get an extra third-round pick in the process.

62. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. MalikHarrison. player. 812. Linebacker. Ohio State

This leads us to No. 62 pick acquired from Green Bay in the first round. The Browns strike gold again by drafting linebacker Malik Harrison from Ohio State. Harrison is an incredibly interesting prospect. He played a litany of positions in high school, most notably at quarterback where he rushed for over 800 yards and 15 touchdowns and passed for over 1,000 yards and eight touchdowns in his senior season. He added over 40 tackles playing linebacker.

He switched to defense once he arrived at Ohio State. He appeared in 12 games as a backup his freshman year and 14 games his sophomore year, earning a start against Michigan State. He became a starter his junior year and never looked back. In his senior season, he led an incredibly talented defense in tackles.

Harrison is far from a finished product, which should scare the rest of the league. In only four years at linebacker, he has improved leaps and bounds. His understanding of both sides of the ball helps him in pass defense. With the AFC North having some of the best tight end play in the league, having a linebacker who’s athletic and capable in coverage is paramount.
