The Cleveland Browns added offensive tackle Jedrick Wills, Jr. with the 10th overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft which was a home run pick

There was a lot of speculation about what the Cleveland Browns were going to do with the No. 10 overall pick. The majority of the mock drafts out there were locked in on an offensive tackle, and for good reason.

While Cleveland added Jack Conklin in free agency, they were still desperate for someone to start opposite him. And while there were rumors they could look at other positions, the Browns kept it simple and in the end made the right pick as they called on Alabama offensive tackle Jedrick Wills, Jr.

Wills played right tackle at Alabama but will most likely slide to the left side as Conklin mans the right. Wills might not have the experience on this side but he has the athleticism and power needed.

So how does this pick grade? Really well honestly. The Browns not only filled their biggest need but they also got a player who is an absolute stud. Wills was considered by some as the best overall tackle in the class with the only issue being the fact that he spent his career on the right side — which isn’t as big of a concern as it’s made out to be.

Suddenly, the Browns offense looks complete as they have a solid offensive line in front of Baker Mayfield, Nick Chubb, and Kareem Hunt.

This unit will also give Mayfield the time he needs to get the ball out to star wide receivers Odell Beckham, Jr. and Jarvis Landry. Last season, this star-studded offense was held in check due to their issues on the line and that shouldn’t be the case now.

There are still more concerns, however, with right guard sticking out like a sore thumb. Even so, they have some players who can perform at a decent level and there’s nothing that prevents them from addressing that spot with one of their upcoming picks.

As for this one, it looks as though rookie general manager Andrew Berry knocked it out of the park. It was smart, simple, and will be effective.
