Day three of the NFL draft is where championship teams are made. The Cleveland Browns hope they found a day three stud with Harrison Bryant.
The Cleveland Browns and general manager Andrew Berry have killed the NFL draft so far. To this point, the Browns have found a franchise tackle, a starting safety, and potential contributors at linebacker and defensive tackle.
On day three, Berry moved to the offensive side of the ball, adding Harrison Bryant, a tight end from Florida Atlantic. This was the first pick that may have fans wondering, why?
Is this a hint at what the future may be for current tight end David Njoku? The Browns appeared to have plenty of depth at the position already with the addition of Pro Bowl tight end Austin Hooper this offseason in free agency. Bryant is a high-value pick for Berry with a second or third round grade by many experts.

Overall this could be one of those picks that is confusing now, but looks tremendous in a few years. Bryant was an offensive tackle in high school, so his blocking skills could come in handy if he adds a few pounds moving forward. Additionally, at 6-foot-5 and 243 pounds, Bryant could slim down and try to move to the slot position, which is a need for the Browns.
Another scenario that could play out would be Njoku moving to the slot and Bryant filling in as the second tight end. The B- grade now is mainly because it felt like the Browns had bigger needs at wide receiver.
Through this whole process, Berry appears to be playing chess and may already be three moves ahead of the fans. Sometimes the least favorite picks end up being the ones that work out best.
One thing is for certain, Bryant provides a lot of flexibility for the Browns moving forward. With a 4.73 forty-yard dash, 32.5-inch vertical, and 4.37 20-yard shuttle, Bryant is an athlete who has the ability to play in the NFL. With Njoku in a contract season, Bryant could be the insurance policy moving forward.
