The Cleveland Browns and Rashard Higgins have come to an agreement on a one year deal for $910,000. Even with drafting a rookie wide receiver this year, this is a smart move by Andrew Berry.

Rashard Higgins in 2018 was Baker Mayfields‘ most reliable receiver. “Steve, that’s not true.  Jarvis Landry was on the team in 2018 and almost had 1,000 yards receiving.”

Landry sure was, but his catch percentage was very low.  Actually tied with Antonio Callaway for the lowest on the team with 54.4 percent. Rashard Higgins was first among wide receivers with 73.6 percent. 19.2percent higher than the leading receiver, Landry.

Their average yards per target was split by a wide margin also. Jarvis Landry hailed a 6.6 yards per target, while Rashard Higgins comes in at 10.8 yards per target. The difference is vast in the grand scheme of an entire game.

Not to mention their yards per touch were also skewed that season. Landry had 12.3 yards per touch throughout the season, while yet again Rashard Higgins beat him with 14.7 yards per touch.

Again the difference in the stat line might be seemingly small, but to the outcome of a game it could be make it or break it two yards. How many games have we as fans watched where the key drive of a game stalls because they were barely short of the first down? The small things matter too and Higgins brings that to Cleveland.

Not to throw gas on the fire here, but Higgins only had one less touchdown than Landry in 2018. So what does all of this mean? Higgins did not have the chance equal playing time. Clearly the coaching staff liked him enough to continue to play him but not enough to get him 96 more targets that season.

Actually think about how crazy that stat is.  Jarvis Landry caught four touchdowns and ran for one more giving him five total. Rashard Higgins caught four touchdowns with 96 less targets throughout an entire season. Is anybody else a little confused as to why Higgins wasn’t seeing the field more?

Then 2019 happens and Freddie Kitchens messes up a good thing and the Cleveland Browns drown in their own hype. So what does 2020 bring us? Besides masks and gloves and probably not being able to attend games if they’re even played this year at all, it brings us, as fans, a fantastic battle to watch between a young and talented receiving corps.

Next. Way too early Round 1 prediction. dark

Peoples-Jones. In that order will be the four main receivers the Cleveland Browns in 2020.  This is an exciting group to watch and as fans we shouldn’t be disappointed.
